VOLUNTEER OF THE MONTH: Linda Chen, Atlanta Georgia
Linda Chen is an Atlanta-based artist originally from Taiwan. She holds a BA degree in visual art media from the University of California-San Diego, which she earned in 2021. Following her passion for art, she pursued a master's degree in illustration and recently graduated from the Savannah College of Art and Design in Atlanta, GA. Through her artwork, Linda creates visual stories that capture her unique perspective and artistic vision.
With a background in art and design, she has developed a wide range of skills in software such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Premier Pro, Lightroom, After Effects, InDesign, Forger, and MediBang. Linda created this beautifl banner artwork for us to share the news about summer programs!
Enjoy seeing her gorgeous, mystical and charming style here at her website.

GITC VOLUNTEER POSITIONS

  • Graphic Designer Angels
If you have experience in graphic design or illustration, your talents can help us reach teachers and students with free learning opportunities through music! We welcome all kinds of artistic styles as long as they  communicate positivity and spread joy! Deena Kelley started volunteering with us in 2023 and helped up get word out about our adaptive music training called AMAISE with this eye-catching flyer!

  • Artist Angels
Are you a performer who wants to volunteer to share your music and advocate for GITC at public and social events? Nationally, Vicki Genfan has been spreading the word about GITC for years. As an adventurous and unique guitarist, she is an exemplary ambassador! Please check her website out and learn about her latest exciting project!

Dr. Bruce Robbins, performs monthly at the Mission Hills Wine Cellar and donates his tip jar for local programs!

Internationally acclaimed artists perform in concert to support GITC, too! Thanks to our founding artist angels,
Laurence Juber, George Winston and Muriel Anderson! You can read about more GITC Artists HERE.

  • Classroom Angels
These angels assist in GITC classrooms supporting our teachers in training their students! Here to the right is Eric VanBuhler who supports 1st grade teacher Kim Smith at Dewey Elementary each Friday!

  • Tuning Angels
Please help GITC by joining us in one of our regional locations to assist with tuning up new ukuleles and guitars before they go out to programs and classrooms! Rodney Howard (top) has become our Tuning Archeangel tuning literally hundreds of ukes for programs nationwide and helping San Diego teachers when their uke sets arrive. And to the right are Rae Newoman and James Clarkston getting guitars ready for teachers and a party of Tuning Angels preparing ukes for after-school Strummers Clubs in San Diego!

  • Photography Angels
Are you a professional photographer or capable shutter bug? If so, you can help GITC capture special moments and share great events! A good phone camera or better, a love of people, and experience taking candid action photos makes for wonderful storytelling. Thanks to all the photographers who have contributed to this site, especially Arthur Kobin who photographed classrooms and students this fall, and the great Michael Maher whose photos grace this website.

  • Video Angels
If you enjoy videotaping, assisting with recording, or editing videos, your skills can help us spread awareness, raise crucial funding, and train teachers and students! Volunteer Eric Van Buhler edited this funny GITC video created by our staff as a musical program application to receive tech equipment in 2020. Thanks to his talents, we won, and indeed Qualcomm saved the day!

  • Lutherie Angels
Stringed instrument artisans who build  and repair stringed instruments are the angels who help keep our instruments in great shape. If you know how to repair guitars or ukuleles, we appreciate your help. Robert Hein (right) helped us keep ukes in good shape for many years and we remember him with love. We appreciate all levels of ability from restringing and adjusting action to leveling frets and bigger repair help.
