Guitars in the Classroom Code of Ethics Policy
Guitars in the Classroom (GITC) serves the public as a 501(c)3 charity. We train teachers and we work with children. Many of the students in our residency classrooms are from economically challenged families. Many have special needs and would be considered fragile in some way. We are committed to keeping students safe, to training and equipping their teachers to provide nurturing and supportive music leadership and musical experiences, and to operate with the utmost respect for each organization with whom we partner and every district and school in which we serve.
We at GITC are further committed to treating every person with kindness and respect, regardless of race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation or gender identity. This inclusive and celebratory spirit guides our work.
In all of our professional conduct, we act in full accordance with our signed agreements and contracts and we respect the rules and regulations set forth therein. We have in place this Code of Ethics Policy, a Child Safeguarding Policy, a Conflict of Interest Policy, a Whistleblower Policy, a Gift Acceptance Policy, a Document Retention and Destruction Policy, and a Donor Privacy Policy.
GITC’s commitment to ethical conduct extends to everyone serving on our board of directors, staff, and faculty, and throughout the extended GITC community. These tenets of our ethical code are set forth in the work contracts signed by everyone who works with us, either as an employee or as an independent contractor.
