Help GITC Provide Programs and/or Resources
Guitars in the Classroom raises- and spends- an equal amount of support, time, resources and energy placing instruments into participating classrooms around the country as we do training teachers and students to play them. That is why our "in kind" revenue truly matches our operating funds. For each participating classroom, we provide instruments and all necessary accessories such as strings, straps, capos and tuners. Each year we train between 1,000 and 1,400 teachers. So you can imagine the work at hand and the amount of beautiful music being made around America as a result! We also spend energy building collaborative private/nonprofit partnerships so teachers can acquire more musical instruments and supplies for their classrooms at special subsidized rates from participating music products companies.
Diverse Income Streams Lead to Program Stability
These days, nonprofits need to work creatively to build sustainability. A changing economy and new tax laws require strategies. Developing a variety of channels for raising support helps us protect the stability of our programs. After 19 years of bringing music to high needs public schools, we are grateful to be here and to report modest growth every year. Meaningful relationships with business sponsors, foundation sponsors, corporate donors, and very engaged individual contributors make a world of difference.
