Play It Forward - Ukes for Day Cares & Head Starts
Every Child Matters and You Can Make the Music Possible!

This past winter and spring, hundreds of early childhood teachers serving in childcare centers, home daycares, federally (under)funded preschools, and transitional kindergarten classrooms received six hours of intensive, in-person training, and a set of ukuleles for their classrooms, thanks to help from generous donors! They are now bringing singing and music-making back to early childhood education. Their first efforts are paying off. You can watch the video below to hear about the results!  Many more teachers want to begin this process, and it will take this great big, amazing village to make it possible. We can do it!
Please Enjoy this short video about our work in early childhood education!

Past donor support and a grant from the San Diego Women's Foundation helped us begin this movement to restore music to learning. Singing songs and playing rhythms with simplified chords on small ukuleles is taking shape in early childhood classrooms. Teachers who studied with us are engaging young children each day in learning language, numeracy, self-expression, social skills, and so much more. They have enthusiastically taken their own time without compensation so they can learn to lead the way.

Now we are asking for your help to accomplish two important goals. First is to support the teachers who took the workshops as they continue their musical leadership journey. We want to give them more training, support, and coaching to grow their skills and confidence. Six hours was a wonderful start and can become so much more with your contribution below!

Second, there is a world of need out there, and we hope you will support GITC to get busy making musical training more broadly available. The first round of 270 ECE teachers have shared the work in their communities, and requests for expanding the work are rolling in.
We would love to help, but we can't do it alone.

Your participation can shape the lives of thousands of young children during their most formative years when you give to our summer campaign. If we band together, children will live better, more successful and productive lives as a result. It's surprising what music can set in motion. Let's get behind these dedicated educators who show up on their own limited time to learn to do the work, and then take it right into their classrooms!

Our total fundraising goal for this summer campaign is $18,000 to give new programs for ECE a launching pad. Bigger gifts are amazing and they go the distance, and small gifts are super important as well. Anything is possible when we all help out!

Do you want to see the music in early childhood come back? Now you can turn that wish into a reality. Please give generously below, and we will do our very utmost to spread the love and learning.

With gratitude, optimism, and commitment to building a brighter future with you,
