Program Costs

GITC programs are funded by school districts, schools themselves, PTOs, local foundation grants, generous donations, or small individual contributions. We can sometimes offer “seed” funding to get a program going but the stability and longevity of a program depends on local support and adoption.

Music matters. It makes a huge different to the learning environment, to student engagement, to academic performance and success. It’s a worthy expenditure for a school district or individual school if they have or can develop the means. But we do not believe teachers themselves should be asked to pay for the program. Teachers are already donating their time, creativity and energy. They are making learning music a priority. So we seek ways to provide training and instruments at no cost to them.

To create an approximate budget for establishing and running a program in a school or school district, we assess what needs exist and detail line items based on the following components and costs:

PHASE ONE: CULTIVATION

  • Learn About the Local Schools and Needs
  • Identify, Qualify & Interview a GITC Trainer
  • Train the Trainer

Note: If the local needs in the schools are known and if a trainer with great qualifications is immediately available, this cost is greatly reduced. If the trainer is already capable of teaching the program and requires less training, this cost is also much reduced.

Total Cost  $500

PHASE TWO: ORGANIZATION

  • Locate a Regional School Site
  • Coordinate Program Dates and Times
  • Set up Registration
  • Request Instruments and Supplies
  • Promote the Program

Total Cost $ 500.00

Note: If a volunteer coordinator for the program can manage these tasks, then these costs can be reduced or eliminated. Each program is unique.

PHASE THREE: PROGRAM LOGISTICS
  • Procure guitars and supplies
  • arrange the shipping and receiving of these items.
  • Conduct guitar intake and create inventory
  • Create a conducive classroom environment
  • Administration 3%

    Total Cost $ 300.00

PHASE FOUR: INSTRUCTION

COST  TO  RUN AN 8 WEEK PROGRAM without classroom mentoring  $1400.00

  • Class Preparation and Follow up: 16 hours
  • Direct Instruction: 8 hours
  • Ongoing Program Support and Trainer Supervision

COST  TO  RUN AN 8 WEEK PROGRAM with classroom mentoring  $2000.00

  • Direct Instruction: 8 hours
