Program Costs

To create an approximate budget for establishing and running a program in your school or school district, you can assess what needs exist and detail line items based on the following components and costs:

PHASE ONE: CULTIVATION

  • Learn About the Local Schools and Needs
  • Identify, Qualify & Interview a GITC Trainer
  • Train the Trainer

Note: If the local needs in the schools are known and if a trainer with great qualifications is immediately available, this cost is greatly reduced. If the trainer is already capable of teaching the program and requires less training, this cost is also much reduced.

Total Cost  $500

PHASE TWO: ORGANIZATION

  • Locate a Regional School Site
  • Coordinate Program Dates and Times
  • Set up Registration
  • Request Instruments and Supplies
  • Promote the Program

Total Cost $ 500.00

Note: If a volunteer coordinator for the program can manage these tasks, then these costs can be reduced or eliminated. Each program is unique.

PHASE THREE: PROGRAM LOGISTICS
  • Procure guitars and supplies
  • arrange the shipping and receiving of these items.
  • Conduct guitar intake and create inventory
  • Create a conducive classroom environment
  • Administration 3%

    Total Cost $ 300.00

PHASE FOUR: INSTRUCTION

COST  TO  RUN AN 8 WEEK PROGRAM without classroom mentoring  $1300.00

  • Class Preparation and Follow up: 16 hours
  • Direct Instruction: 8 hours
  • Ongoing Program Support and Trainer Supervision

COST  TO  RUN AN 8 WEEK PROGRAM with classroom mentoring  $1800.00

  • Class Preparation and Follow up: 16 hours
  • Direct Instruction: 8 hours
  • Ongoing Program Support and Trainer Supervision
  • In-class Mentoring: 12 hours

Examples:

Scenario One

Establish a brand new program, identify and train a trainer, set up program logistics in a school, promote the program and run two 8-week courses in a school year, the first without mentoring and the second with mentoring:

$2300 + $1800 = $4100

Scenario Two

Run two previously established courses in a school year, the first without mentoring and the second with mentoring:

$1300 + $1800 = $3100

Scenario Three

Start 2 full-year programs in a large district in which the schools to be served are already identified and the district music teacher is well-qualified and needs minimal training to succeed.

$300 + $400+ $2600 (2 programs without mentoring) + $3600 (2 programs with mentoring) = $9,900
