Meet the Artists
As you may have already have experienced at a GITC event, Guitars in the Classroom is fortunate to benefit from the support of very fine, charitably minded artists who are dedicated to bringing more music making to schools. Some are well known to you and others’ stars are rising as you read. GITC gladly welcomes any artist who wants to make a difference for children in the schools to join our musical team. Beginning this year, the super-accomplished Craig Chaquico has begun contributing his talent to this work. Read more here….
Community and education-minded performers who advocate for GITC like our Youth Ambassador of Music in the Schools, Cody Lovaas are reaching out directly to kids in GITC schools. Cody and percussionist Angela Cutrone are inspiring thousands of students through monthly school concerts in schools with several participating GITC classroom teachers. They also stop into individual classrooms to write songs with the kids. Their community service is exemplary!
The ways in which artists can make a difference are many and the children their music and dedication touches are changed for a lifetime.
Right now a group of artists have put a wonderful collaborative project together called One Community Voice. You can read abuot that here.
If you are an artist (or know of one) who is interested in creating musical access for young people, we want to encourage you to get in touch with GITC. We will empower you to create social change on tour or at home in your own community. GITC hopes to offer you a number of rewarding ways to help you accomplish your important goals.
